I work in a bakery in which we can take images given to us by customers and transfer them into edible images that can be placed onto the cakes. One client wanted a full sheet cake with a very large image of a group of people.

CeCe is a creative and energetic person who, before her life was so unjustly interrupted, was studying fashion at MCTC. She had a stable home where she lived with and helped support four other African American youth, her family. CeCe’s family describes her as a leader, a role model, and a loyal friend. She is known as a wise, out-spoken, and welcoming person, with a cheerful disposition and a history of handling prejudice with amazing grace.
Around 12:30 am on June 5, CeCe and four of her friends (all of them black) were on their way to Cub Foods to get some food. As they walked past Schooner’s Bar in South Minneapolis, a man and two women (all of them white) began to yell epithets at them. They called CeCe and her friends ‘faggots,’ ‘niggers,’ and ‘chicks with dicks,’ amongst other things.
As they were shouting, one of the women smashed her drink into the side of CeCe’s face, slicing her cheek open, lacerating her salivary gland, and stinging her eyes with liquor. A fight ensued, with more people joining in. What happened during the fight is unclear, but within a few minutes Dean Schmitz–one of the attackers–had been stabbed.
CeCe was later arrested, and is now falsely accused of murder
For a month, CeCe was kept in solitary confinement “for her own protection”; she had no say in this matter. Finally, she was transferred to a psychiatric unit in the Public Safety Facility. It was nearly two months before she was taken back to a doctor to check up on the wound on her face, which by then had turned into a painful, golf ball-sized lump.
Later on, CeCe’s friends were harassed on the street by people they recognized from the scene of the fight. Individuals circled the block that CeCe’s friends were walking on and called them ‘niggers’ and ‘faggots’ and told them to ‘go back to Africa.’ When they attempted to wave down a passing squad car for assistance, the officer driving the car said he would not help them.

A Prince George Mountie who tasered an 11-year-old first nations boy should not face criminal charges for his conduct, says an external review by West Vancouver Police Department that left a native organization “dumbfounded” for its brevity.
Chief Constable Peter Lepine of the West Vancouver police announced the finding in a short open letter, concluding after a six-month investigation that there was no violation of the Criminal Code.
“We are not recommending charges,” he wrote of the April incident in which RCMP responding to the stabbing of a 37-year-old man in a group home pursued and tasered an 11-year-old suspect who had barricaded himself in a neighbouring property.
He said his team spent much of the spring and summer interviewing witnesses, collecting and analyzing evidence and consulting legal and use-of-force experts as part of a “thorough, fair and transparent” investigation into the matter, which he acknowledged roused concern in Prince George and across Canada.
The child was taken into custody and the victim of the assault survived. The Mountie who deployed the taser, who had 18 months experience, was placed on administrative leave.
West Vancouver police said Chief Constable Lepine would not be available for comment on Thursday.
The finding outraged the Native Courtworker and Counselling Association.
“I am absolutely dumbfounded by the shortness, brevity and sheer gall of the West Vancouver police’s so-called report. It does nothing to give the people of B.C. confidence when police investigate themselves,” said Hugh Braker, the organization’s president.
Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, said he could not imagine any defence for not proposing criminal charges.
“I don’t think there’s anything that will convince me it was necessary to taser an 11-year-old child,” he said.

Why cops and the “law” make me hate life more and more…
Apparently, the high school I graduated from had an incident a few years ago where one of the security guards tazed a girl who was pregnant.
This may be America but there are definitely some parts of the country “authority figures” spend their days harassing, persecuting and violating the youth of stuggling communities. We have education institutions that eventually become pre-correctional facilities with classrooms.
I guess they think that if you try and defeat them while they’re young they can’t grow up to overthrow you…

A new report that analyses the distribution of grants and scholarships by race found students of color are less likely to win private scholarships or receive merit-based institutional grants than white students. The report found that white students receive more than three times as much in merit-based grant and private scholarship funding than students of color.
White students receive more than three-quarters (76 percent) of all institutional merit-based scholarship and grant funding, even though they represent less than two-thirds (62 percent) of the student population, according to the report published by Mark Kantrowit, the financial aid guru behind Fastweb.com and FinAid.org.
Kantrowit believes that the myth that there aren’t enough scholarships for white students comes from highly-qualified white students being turned away and those students in turn assuming the money went to students of color.
The myth that students of color are taking all the scholarship money is so prevalent that policies like California’s Proposition 209 and Michigan’s Civil Rights Initiative (Proposal 2) include mentions that scholarships and financial aid should be awarded solely on the basis of need and ability, not racewhat? affirmative action ISN’T the object of your missplaced anger at not receiving a scholarship to college? REALLY?
I’ bookmarking this study so I can bring it up anytime ANYONE says that they didn’t receive a scholarship because they were white. If you don’t get on the internet and do a google search and spend your days looking for scholarship money (that you aren’t even entitled to anyway) then STOP BLAMING PEOPLE OF COLOR.
This study shows that white students are both the majority of students going to college AND students who receive scholarships. This just tells me that we need to spend MORE time & money making sure underrepresented groups can actually afford going to college.
Honestly, this excites me cause the next time I see some ignorant “my baby can’t go to college cause we’re white and its NOT FAIR” post anywhere in the world, I will straight up go irate on a muthafucka.
